A painting I created following my walking holiday in the area around Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The oil painting ‘Ettal Abbey’, measuring 40 x 40 cm, captures the picturesque setting of the abbey in the Ammer Mountains. The view shows the striking, green-patinated dome of the Baroque basilica rising above a light-coloured abbey wall. In the foreground stands a small round tower with a conical red roof, flanked by dense, green tree tops. The background is formed by an imposing, dark, overgrown mountainside, which lends depth to the picture and emphasises the monastery’s idyllic setting.
